2D and 3D Animation

A video using 3D and 2D animations to explore the topic of electronic waste in the smartphone industry in the European Union.

This project is an explainer animation, developed in a seminar at HKU (University of the Arts Utrecht), consisting of two approaches, “Design and Research” and “Context and Theory”.
After conducting several situation analyses of current affairs, contextualisation, problem formulation and creation of future predictions and future scenario planning, I decided to focus on the topic of electronic waste.
More specifically, on the electronic waste prevalent in the smartphone industry of the European Union.

The research was put into practice I started designing. Using design analyses, I looked at what I want to communicate, how and with whom.
I then created an animation using 3D generated images using Blender and combined it with further 2D animations in After Effects and created an animated video with some key facts and information about electronic waste and how the smartphone industry could operate in the future.
